One species from Europe, Broad-leaved Helleborine ( " Epipactis helleborine " ), is invasive in North America.
However, " Epipactis helleborine " grows in more diverse habitats, from sheltered sandy beaches to open spaces in deciduous or coniferous forests, on roadsides, in meadows, and on moist soils.
The bramble is still recognised as a local species, but the orchid is no longer accepted as valid, and is probably just a form of the Broad-leaved Helleborine ( " Epipactis helleborine " ).
Aspen ( Populus tremula ) is the most notable species present, however the presence of Broad-leafed Helleborine ( Epipactis helleborine ) indicates a woodland containg many mature deciduous trees of some habitat value, together with wet flushes containing yellow flag iris, soft rush, lesser spearwort and golden saxifrage.
